Our Mission
… to provide a voluntary,
uniform professional credential for those demonstrating an advanced knowledge
of California law and procedures and to enhance the quality of services available
from California paralegals & legal assistants to the legal community, and
to the public which is served.
The
Board
The CACPS Board is comprised of seven to ten members. The board members may include paralegals who are Certified Legal Assistants/Paralegals, attorneys admitted to practice law in the state of California or a California judge, and paralegal educators committed to the advancement of the California Certification Program. Board members serve staggered two-year terms and attend three to four meetings a year during which the board reviews testing and administrative issues as well as marketing efforts. The Board works closely with the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc., technical writers, and others interested in the advancement of the paralegal profession and certification in particular.

History
The Commission for Advanced California Paralegal Specialization, Inc. was created as the entity to oversee, develop and implement the California Advanced Specialist Examination Program in order to certify qualifying paralegals as having advanced knowledge in a specialty area of law based on California statutory and procedural requirements and case law. The Commission works closely with both NALA and CAPA to implement the goals of paralegals in California to maintain a paralegal advanced certification program. (more)
