Following NALA's Lead...

CACPS is entering into a new certification process to stay in step with the accelerating pace and evolving needs of the paralegal profession. In association with NALA, CACPS offers a curriculum-based Internet learning and assessment process featuring two options:

• Stand-alone CAS: A paralegal with a valid CLA/CP may earn the stand-alone CAS. These stand-alone CAS courses consist of 10-20 modules, with about 15 pages each. The courses are designed as a presentation of text, slides and interactive exercises and tests.
  
  
• Combination APC and CAS: The paralegal must hold a valid CLA/CP and then earn the APC before earning the CAS in that same APC specialty area. This option consists of 3 to 5 modules and highlights differences between federal and California law and procedure.

CACPS relies on volunteers to write the content for each specialty assessment. Contact us to find out more about how you can contribute your expertise.


CAS in California Discovery

Thanks to Kathy Miller ACP, CAS and Stacey Hunt, CLA, CAS, CACPS hopes to launch its first combined CAS in California Discovery by the end of this year. This is a wonderful accomplishment and marks what CACPS hopes to be the first of many new online CAS assessments.
